Eugene Raymond IV (Gene), 71, passed away peacefully in his home in Palm City, FL, on October 29, 2017, surrounded by his loving wife and family. Gene fought his illness courageously and bravely for several years, never wanting to give up.
Gene was born and raised in Pennsauken, NJ to the late Eugene III and Virginia (Berger) Raymond. He moved to Medford (and subsequently) Medford Lakes with his wife and raised their four daughters there, residing there for 46 years. Gene loved traveling with his family, golfing, relaxing and boating down the shore at their family home in Harvey Cedars, LBI, and enjoying each day with his soul mate, Diane. They were married for 48 years.
Gene was President of Majestic Oil Co. in Cherry Hill, NJ for 40 years, a family business still run by family members. He was known for his sincere interest in everyone he met, his witty sense of humor, and his expertise in crossword puzzles and trivia. Gene was an amazing husband and father and believed that “Family is the Most Important Thing.” He loved nothing more than watching a beautiful sunset with his family over a glass of red wine.
He is survived by his wife, Diane (née Brosious) Raymond; daughter Lisa (Gary) Tilory of Marlton, NJ; daughter Lauren (Theodore) Gicas of Charleston, SC; daughter Jennifer (Chris) Battjer of Palm City, FL; daughter Julie (Joe) Phillips of Palm City, FL; his 8 wonderful grandchildren Lila, Lucy, Laina, Joey, Anthony, Max, Cooper, and Jackson; sister Virginia Phillips (Richard Krol) of Medford, NJ; brother Stephen G. Raymond (Mary Alison Albright) of Hainesport, NJ; and 7 nieces and nephews and their families.
A Celebration of Gene’s life will be held on November 11, 2017 at Fellowship Alliance Chapel, 199 Church Road in Medford, NJ. Time to greet the family will begin at 10 AM, followed by a memorial service at 12 PM.
