With deep regret we offer our condolences to Dad (Pete McHugh, Sr.) & the entire McHugh Family on the passing of Mom - Helen McHugh. To be included in this hugh, close & loving family of the McHughs has been my good fortune since I met Bill Martin ( widower of Colleen McHugh Martin - deceased 2/26/1983 ) I met Bill in October,1983. Helen touched my life in many ways, but most memorable (to me) was how accepting she was and how special she made me feel by including me as a member of her family. This was a blessing & a privilege & I appreciated this.
May all your good memories of your dear wife/mother, Helen help you through this sad time. Sincerely, Joanne Spencer-Martin & Bill Martin

Dear Pete and kids, This is very sad news. I knew Helen well, during my second life in Camden 1980-1996. She was a selfless public servant; her dedication to the city was second only to Pete, and her children. Helen's vote was often the only "No," when City Council passed questionable resolutions and ordinances. When Dr. Charlie Brimm was on Council - he was a second machine-opposition vote. Helen McHugh was one of a kind. We need women (and men) like her now to stand up for what is right and to fight like hell against what isn't. Rest in peace Helen McHugh. I will never forget you. I am so very saddened to hear of the passing of Mrs. McHugh. She was always someone I looked up to, trusted and respected while growing up on State St. She always treated me as one of her own children.

Hi Pete, Kevin, Sheila, Micky, Danny, & Pete, Sr., I am so sorry about the loss of your MOM/wife. She was and is a GREAT woman. Helen McHugh really was a MOM to so many of us. She invited us into her home and made us feel like we belonged there so naturally. She was so loving and giving to so many. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. She was so proud of each of you which your all know. This you found out and knew after talking with her for just a short time. Your father and mother loved each other through many trials and tribulations to her very last breath. Can you imagine being married for 70 years to the same person who fell in love with you so many years ago. Truly a remarkable love story. Helen McHugh was so lucky to have children like all of you who took care of her to the very end. What a family you are!! I am proud myself to know you. I am so glad I met Shelia back in our Fairview days and then met your Dad and Mom and then all of you and all of your kids as they came along. Wait, is the count up to 100 now!! Well, everyone do a group hug now and include your Mom and Dad in that, too! She will be in your heart forever, Maryann & Frank

Helen made the best baked ham I ever had. Family dinners and holidays were always special. She was adored by her children and loved by her husband. I know she will be missed. God bless Pop and the entire family.
